Since as far back as I can remember, a year was not divided into four seasons, but rather by the periods in which I would play sports. Softball, from late March until early September, then soccer from September until November, and finally basketball from late November until early March. Sports in general, are my greatest interest outside of academics. Growing up, I was always playing sports with my older brother Chad, who also attends this university, so I began to get extremely serious with athletics. I am not like a typical teenage girl who loves laying at the beach, shopping for the cutest high heel, or watching the corniest love story on TV. Instead, you will find me running on the beach, shopping for the newest track sneaker, or watching the Red Sox spank the Yankees. Do not get me wrong, I am not a complete sports freak, but working out and staying in shape are incredibly important to me.
Academically speaking, my interest is pretty obvious, teaching. Tutoring, teaching at a preschool, and actually teaching in a 5th grade class last year are some of the events that proved that teaching is something I want to do for the rest of my life. In my high school last year I took a class in which I was able to construct lesson plans and put them to life once a week for one hour at an elementary school in my city. Teaching has always interesting to me and something I knew I wanted to pursue, I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. Math is, and always has been, my favorite subject. For some reason loving math runs in my family, with my mother as an accountant and my brother majoring in the engineering department. Not only is it a subject I enjoy learning, but it is also my strongest subject, one which I have always excelled in. With my interests being sports, teaching, and math, my ideal career would be a high school math teacher who is also the head coach of both the varsity softball and basketball team.
